How do nonograms work?
The numbers along the edge of the grid tell you the lengths of the runs of filled squares in that row or column. For example "3 1" means: three filled squares in a row, then at least one gap, then one more filled square.
Cross-reference the row and column hints to pin down, step by step, which squares are filled and which stay empty. When the last square is painted, the hidden picture appears. The rules take two minutes to learn — and the interactive tutorial walks you through your first puzzle even if you've never seen a nonogram before.
Nonograms are also known as picross, griddlers, or hanjie.
